After viewers criticized her partner Luca Bish, Gemma Owen has come to her defense.
The couple finished second in the series, trailing Ekin-Su Culculoglu and Davide Sanclimenti.
Luca was however the subject of controversy during his time on the popular ITV2 reality show, as many fans questioned his actions.
Following the Snog Marry Pie challenge, Ofcom received many complaints when Luca and fellow islander Dami Hope were accused of bullies Tasha Ghouri.
Luca was also criticized for his relationship with Gemma, with some fans believing he was too controlling.
Gemma has now shared her own thoughts on Luca's criticism of Love Island, recollecting her love island experiences.
Gemma told Virgin Media's The Six O'Clock Show that she only saw one hour a day. "People are put in different situations than you would see on the outside. People behave differently in these kinds of situations."
"I think personally it's unfair to judge someone after just that hour."
The reality star then said that fans shouldn't be so harsh on Luca as they should rather give him the "benefit of the doubt."
Gemma said, "I think certain actions may have been altered, but everyone makes mistakes." "You get put in situations in there that no one truly understands until you're living it."
Gemma revealed that she has yet to declare her relationship with Luca until she declares themselves as boyfriend and girlfriend.
"The ball is in his court," she said, after revealing that Luca had already been given her approval from her family, including her footballer father Michael Owen.
Love Island is available on ITV2 and via catch up on ITV Hub and Britbox.
