Craig Charles has resigned from his role as presenter on The Gadget Show.

The former Coronation Street actor admitted that he had decided to quit his position after five years in charge of other businesses.

The actor-turned-presenter had been presenting The Gadget Show alongside Ortis Deley, Jon Bentley, and Georgie Barrat.

"I'm not sure I'll ever co-present any more Gadget Shows, so that's gone." "I like new adventures I'm always looking forward rather than back," he said (via The Sun).

"I'm a Celebrity" he continued, explaining his motivations for wanting to pursue other career options: "When my brother died, it prompted me to leave Coronation Street because it made me realize there were things I wanted to do that I didn't have time for while I was there."

Charles said he's also considering whether or not it's time to "slow down" in terms of work.

"Last summer, I was doing a show about UFOs for Sky History, The Gadget Show, the first series of Moneybags, my radio Monday to Friday, and then gigging all weekend," he said.

"I should take a breather."

Charles, who played Lloyd Mullaney on Coronation Street between 2005 and 2015, is currently hosting Channel 4's game show Moneybags, a project which he is passionate about.

"People have come to me with quizzes and game shows for years, but none of them suited my personality," he said. "Moneybags is exciting one million goes down the conveyor belt every week."

"It's a cliche, but that's a life-changing amount of money."
