'Wise Guys,' is a new Gangster flick starring Robert De Niro ...

In the next Warner Bros. Discovery gangster-themed film, Wise Guys, Robert De Niro will play the actor, who will be directed by Barry Levinson. In a fun, full circle moment, author Nicholas Pileggi, who fans of crime writing and the timeless Martin Scorsese feature Goodfellas may recognize, wrote the film's script.

Vito Genovese and Frank Costello, two of the most prolific mafioso top dogs, were involved in a long-running conflict that would see Genovese murder Costello in 1957. Costello was wounded, and even though he wasnt killed, he was still a member of the family.

If youre reading this and wondering who will play De Niro across as the other mafia boss, the possibility answer might come as a surprise. While it hasnt yet been confirmed, the Taxi Driver actor is expected to do double duty as both mafiosos. If this is true, we cant wait to see one of the greatest actors of our time work across from himself to bring the incredible true story to life.

De Niro is no stranger to the mob-based genre, having won his first Academy Award for his role in Francis Ford Coppola's crime epic trilogy, The Godfather Part II. He would later star in a host of crime-themed films, including Goodfellas, Casino, A Bronx Tale, The Untouchables, and The Irishman.

Levinson is one of the most well-known actors in Hollywood, competing in films such as Good Morning, Vietnam, Bugsy, Wag the Dog, and Rain Man. While his other films can boast of bringing him a total of 34 Academy Award nominations, he was unable to win many awards until Bugsy and Rain Man were released.

Wise Guys hasn't announced a release date for the film right now. See below a teaser for Goodfellas, which is currently available on Netflix.
