Deadline has reported that Ace Entertainment has given the go-ahead for the production of Laura Taylor Namey's new York Times bestseller novel A Cuban Girls Guide to Tea and Tomorrow I. Maia Reficco, Kit Connor, and Kate del Castillo will play in the film.
Lila Reyes, a Miami girl who works in an Abuelas Cuban bakery, finds her life in jeopardy as she grieves the loss of her grandmother. She is sent to visit an English pub where she meets and falls in love with Orion, a charming British shopkeeper who she planned to spend her life with. But once she meets Orion, she realizes that everything she ever imagined would be lost.
Katherine Fairfax (Call Me Kuchu) will direct the narrative feature directed by Shell and Miss Conceptions Savion Einstein.
Kallys Mashup star Reficco is currently staring in HBO's critically acclaimed series Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, along with Maya Hawke and Camila Mendes. Connor currently stars in Netflix's British teenage series Heartstopper while his acting credits include the likes of Rocketman, Ready Player One, and Mr. Holmes.
Matt Kaplan will direct for ACE Entertainment, the company that produced Netflix's All The Boys Ive Loved franchise, which included Noah Centineo and Lana Condor as household names, as well as Hello, Goodbye and Everything In Between. Matt Janzen and Aubrey Bendix will direct the production for TeaShop Films.
