Strange Way of Life, an Academy Award-winning documentary, has surfaced from the set of the film. The images show the actors of the film, Ethan Hawke and Pedro Pascal, wearing western outfits. However, their reunion gradually becomes apparent.
Amalia Rodrigues' traditional Portuguese fado song will be the soundtrack for the movie, according to Almodovar. As they pose together on the set for the film, Hawkes Jake appears to be the wealthier and more aristocratic of the two, while Pascals Silva is dressed in a more casual checkered shirt. The costumes are created by Saint Laurents head designer Anthony Vaccarello.
Hawke is absent from another photo, this time taken on the exterior set, and instead Elite star Manu Rios is standing next to a smiling Almodovar and more serious Pascal. The photographs were posted by Agustin Almodovar on his official Twitter account; Agustin is the directors younger brother and a film producer who is also working on Strange Way of Life.
The film is a reaction to Brokeback Mountain, which featured late Academy Award-winning actors Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal as the two titular cowboys. Almodovar said: "I never believed that the filmmakers would grant me full freedom and autonomy to compose whatever I want." Nobody told me that they said, "You can do whatever you want," but I knew that there was a limit.
This month, shooting for the 30-minute-long Western has begun in southern Spain. Jose Condessa, Jason Fernandez, Sara Salamo, Erenice Lohan, Pedro Casablanc, and George Steane also star.
Strange Way of Life has no specific release date yet, but the short film is anticipated to premiere sometime next year. Check out the set photos below.
