On Hulu, the reboot of 'Hellraiser' gets a R rating ...

Hulu's reimagination of Clive Barker's 1987 film, Hellraiser, has received a "R" rating due to its "strong bloody horror violence" and "graphic nudity." Established horror filmmaker David Brucknerwho has helmed numerous horror films, including The Ritual, The Night House, and Southbound, also directed the upcoming feature film, featuring Sense8 actress Jamie Clayton as the Hell Priest.

The upcoming horror reboot will be written by Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski, who also served as the film's producer. "This is a Hellraiser on a scale that I simply didn't anticipate," said Barker in a statement. David and his team are well-versed in the story's mythology, but what interests them is their desire to preserve it for a new generation.

Since its release in 1987, Barker's classic film has ten different franchises, including Hellraiser: Deader, Hellraiser: Revelations, and Hellraiser: Judgment. However, Bruckner promised that his latest take on Pinhead and Cenobites will be nothing less than a minor remake.

We can't say anything about it yet, but it's something that we're actively working towards, and it's a joy and a dream for a filmmaker like myself to dive into that world, Bruckner said. Both films, as well as Clive's 1986 horror novel, The Hellbound Heart, are their "primary sources of inspiration."

The original Hellraiser chronicles a mysterious hell portal that was opened accidentally, enlarging frightening creatures from hell, including Cenobites like Pinhead, Chatterer, Butterball, and Open/Deep Throat, who have since begun to injure Larry (Andrew Robinson) and Julia (Clare Higgins).

Riley will be played by Odessa A'zion of Grand Army, who is still unknown. Brandon Flynn (Into the Dark: Midnight Kiss), Drew Starkey (The Devil All the Time), Selina Lo (Boss Level), Goran Visnjic (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Hiam Abbass (Blade Runner 2049), and Aoife Hinds (Derry Girls)

Following the release of Prey, which drew on John McTiernan's 1987 science fiction film, Predator, the new Hulu Original is the streaming platform's next reboot. Fans are already anticipating a blood-filled spectacle, thanks to the recent "R" rating the film received.
