'Smile': A Horror Film Unzips an Unsettling New Poster ...

"What makes you smile?" Certainly not an unsettling grin. As if the film's unnerving premise wasn't enough, Paramount Pictures unveiled a new poster for the upcoming horror film, Smile, with a brief yet frightening warning that says, "Once you see it, it's too late," implying that the entire creepy grin thing is a congenital illness.

Parker Finn's horror debut, starring Sosie Bacon, chronicles the extraordinary experiences of the psychiatrist Dr. Rose Cotter, who witnessed the horrific murder of one of her patients and the terrifying wide smiles that seem to be a plague, which quickly became a critical hit, winning the SXSW Film Festival's special jury recognition Midnight Award. Caitlin Stasey is the woman who appears in the chilling new poster.

The official synopsis for the film says: "After witnessing a bizarre, traumatic event involving a patient, Dr. Rose Cotter (Sosie Bacon) begins experiencing frightening situations that she cannot explain." "In order to survive and escape her terrifying new reality, Rose must confront her troubling past."

The film has been rated R for its violent content, so while October is still a month and a half away, you can expect to receive an early Halloween treat from the film's grisly story. Bacon will also play in the film's first big screen role.

Bacon can also be seen in the anthology series Scream: The Scream franchise, based on Wes Craven's Scream franchise. Kyle Gallner (A Nightmare on Elm Street), Jessie T. Usher (The Undying), Kal Penn (The Sisterhood of Night), and Rob Morgan (The Unforgivable) round out the cast of Smile.

Smile is expected to be released on September 30 in cinemas. You can see the terrifying poster and trailer below:
