Boyfriend Dungeon, a game about dating people who can be transformed into beautiful weapons, has just announced its first major update for the game, including new romantic characters and a new dungeon for fans to explore. The update is free to anyone who has purchased a copy of Boyfriend Dungeon.
To meet and date the new weapons, players can start a new Boyfriend Dungeon game or complete an in-progress campaign. Dr. Holmes, who uses she/they pronouns, was created by Ikumi Nakamura, a veteran of the gaming industry who worked on Okami, Bayonetta, and Resident Evil 2.
Nicole Carpenter wrote in her Polygons review of Boyfriend Dungeon that it would be easy to create a concept like this that gets lost in a sense of irony, and that all of it felt like a joke. But the Kitfox developers approached Boyfriend Dungeon with such genuine belief in the story, and that's what ultimately stuck with me after I finished the game.
Boyfriend Dungeon is now available for $14.99 on Nintendo Switch and Steam, making it a great time for those who missed the launch to get the game and explore every dunj within.
