Asobo Studio has released a new gameplay overview trailer for A Plague Tale: Requiem, which chronicles Amicia and Hugo's journey since their first encounter in the 2019 film A Plague Tale: Innocence.
Both Amicia and Hugo have a wealth of new tools available to them to face the challenges that await them in A Plague Tale: Requiem, which has been released six months after the siblings foiled the Inquisition's plans and defeated the Grand Inquisitor.
Amicia and Hugo's journey continues in today's Gameplay Overview Trailer, which includes a lot of new tricks up their sleeves! #APlagueTale: Requiem is available now on Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and Nintendo Switch (Cloud version).http://t.co/YusrJszNiC
Amicias experiences have strengthened her and transformed her into a resourceful young woman. The ability to now carry weapons such as a crossbow and access a wealth of craftable gear through alchemy is now a viable option. However, the stealth mechanics remain a key focus of the game's various encounters, with brief gameplay segments that suggest that limited inventory space and ammunition reserves must be utilized responsibly.
Hugo's abilities have been similarly enhanced for the sequel, and the gameplay overview demonstrates how a deeper connection to the reawakened Macula curse allows Hugo to see nearby enemies while moving stealthily. His ability to manipulate and control hordes of rats has also returned, although the narration of the teaser warns that such use can take a toll on Hugo, both in terms of narrative and gameplay.
The trailer also mentions that Amicia and Hugo will be brought into the orbit of a cast of allied characters who have their own abilities as well as being temporary additions to your journey. Their abilities can provide new approaches to gameplay segments, such as one example used in a stealth sequence.
The gameplay overview video demonstrates that A Plague Tale: Requiem is a vastly expanded game, and that Amicias' desire remains to add additional combat tools while retaining the original feel and tension.
