Riot Games revealed the tournament format for this year's VALORANT Champions, but fans have already raised concerns about what has been a widely unsatisfactory format for the League World Championship.

People have complained about the Leagues biggest tournament since last year, clamoring for a double-elimination system to create even more excitement and incredible storylines throughout the lower bracket. It also doesnt help that Riots popular first-person shooter, VALORANT, will get a double-elimination format for its forthcoming international tournament, Champions 2022.

Every single major region follows this approach through the playoffs, including G2 Esports' undefeated run through the lower bracket until the 2022 Mid-Season Invitational. Fans have also complained about the one-week break in the middle of the tournament, as well as the lack of competitive cross-regional play.

One user pointed out that at this point, it's rather unbearable to wait for a year for seven best-of-fives, the majority of which are usually not even competitive.

Riots global esports head John Needham acknowledged a possible format change near the end of Worlds 2021, stating that it is something that should be considered moving forward. His statement gave hope to fans seeking for more matches between the finest rosters from around the globe. Yet, the World Championship format remains unchanged for 2022, much to the League's displeasure.

Dot Esports has reached out to Riot to see if there are any future format changes planned for the World Championship.
