A Fortnite 40-vs-40 Zero Build mode is said to be in the works ...

Fortnite began as a simple tower defense game, but has grown into a platform for a wide variety of different modes and maps. Not only can players create whatever they want in Fortnite, but Epic Games is also free to experiment with it however they want. Now, Fortnite might get a new mode based on the larger Team Rumble and the newer Zero Build.

Epic has begun work on a new team of 40 players that will be played without building, although the teams will have fewer players. According to Hypex, the new game mode might be somewhat permanent in Fortnite.

The 50v50 mode is set to be restored shortly, with the name "Big Battle Zero Build," but it's only 40v40 this time. It's with SBMM, no respawn, the storm is more deadly, shorter matches, and you start with the OG Tac Shotgun + Burst AR + 4 Minis & 10 Bandages. https://twitter.com/6lvPamV3iu

The leak details several of the game's improvements, including that players will be unable to respawn, the matches will be shorter, and each player will have a starting loadout. These items include the OG Tac Shotgun, the Burst AR, four mini shield potions, and ten bandages.

If this new mode is released, it will likely require a different approach to the large team building battles. The map isn't as wide as the vertical options, therefore the majority of the fighting would have to take place on the ground. Players will need to use the natural map as cover and discover new strategies to win the over.

The fact that this mode is in the files implies that it may be released within the next few months. However, this is just speculation until Epic Games confirms or refutes the speculation.
