Raven Software, the developer of Call of Duty: Warzone and Vanguards' fifth season, had been rather quiet, although a short, new cinematic teaser has quickly altered that. The footage not only hints players to what will be changed on Warzones Caldera map, but it also details that Raul Menendez will return as a villain in Season Five.

Season Five: Last Stand will introduce four former series antagonists to Warzone and Vanguard: Black Ops IIs Raul Menendez, Ghosts Gabriel Rorke, Black Ops 3 and 4s Seraph, and Modern Warfares Khaled Al-Asad. In their cinematic teaser, the villains are shown flying over the island of Caldera, before dropping a bomb at its peak location, which will eventually cause its huge volcano to erupt.

The footage does raise some doubts about the series' lore. Both Vanguard and Warzone are set in the World War II era, so it is worth considering how future adversaries from the two franchises will end up on the island. The last scene even mentions the introduction of the EM1 weapon to both games, which was first introduced during the Advanced Warfares campaign.

Treyarch, the creator of the last chapter of Zombies content, has announced that the final phase of the game would soon arrive at Vanguard. This last chapter will feature the legendary archdemon Kortifex, and players will be able to defeat the undead boss on a new round-based map.
