Tommy Dorfman has announced her engagement to her girlfriend.

The 13 Reasons Why actress revealed the couple's intentions to wed, but kept her partner's identity secret.

"I fell in love with someone who doesn't fetish me," she said, calling her "just a gay girl."

"It's very affirming. It's also very secure, not safe. Being in love is so terrifying, so uncomfortable, and so painful."

Rachel Bilson commented on Broad Ideas, a podcast about her sexuality, that she'd never heard of until high school. I'd never realized how much I loved women. It's unresolved and unexplored thing.'

"I was like, 'This is the year that I'm going to go on some dates with girls and feel that out again, and not feel ashamed about it."

The 30-year-old was previously married to Peter Zurkuhlen, but filed for divorce earlier this year.

After privately identifying as a woman for 12 months, Dorfman announced her transsexual status in July 2021.

"I view today as a reintroduction to myself as a woman, having made a medical transition," she said at the time.

"Coming out is always viewed as this grand reveal, but I was never left out. Today is about clarity: I am a trans woman. My pronouns are she/her and my name is Tommy."

Dorfman talked previously about how to deal with conflicts while transitioning.

"It's strange to be 29 and going through puberty again. Some days I feel like I'm 14," said the woman.

"I was in a nine-year relationship with a gay man who perceived me as a more male-bodied person. I love him so much, but we've discovered that what I'm interested in isn't necessarily expressed in a gay man."

"I spent 28 years of my life suicidal and depressed, while recuperating from alcoholism and drug addiction.

"I don't think I've ever been really content until this past year," says the author.
