Do you want a fresh western to fill the void left by the missingYellowstone prequel 1883? Allow us to introduce you to The English.
The six-part, 19th Century drama, which features Emily Blunt in a rare series regular role, is described as an epic chase Western that takes the core themes of identity and revenge to tell a uniquely compelling account of race, power, and love.
The English is a tale about an aristocratic Englishwoman, Lady Cornelia Locke, and a Pawnee ex-cavalry scout, Eli Whipp, who meet in mid-America in 1890 to cross a violent landscape built on dreams and blood, according to the official logline. Both of them must face physical and psychological obstacles that will push them to their limits.
The journey of these young people to their ultimate destination continues: the new town of Hoxem, Wyoming, according to the description. Only here, after an investigation by local sheriff Robert Marshall (The Shadow Lines Stephen Rea) and young widow Martha Myers (A Hidden Lifes Valerie Pachner) into a series of bizarre and macabre unsolved murders, will the whole extent of their intertwined history be fully understood, and they will confront the future they must live.
Rafe Spall (The Salisbury Poisonings), Tom Hughes (A Discovery of Witches), and Ciaran Hinds (The Terror) round out the ensemble.
Hugo Blick (The Honourable Woman) directs and directs the series, while Colin Wratten (Killing Eve) serves as producers.
Blunt, who has had several film roles includingA Quiet Place, Mary Poppins Returns, and The Devil Wears Prada, has few screen credits to her credit. She last lent her voice to a 2009 episode of The Simpsons. Prior to that, she co-starred in the 2005 ABC miniseries Emire.
