HBO Max has announced that even more movies would be removed from its streaming platform in a somewhat unsurprising move. These include: Superintelligence, with Melissa McCarthy as the lead actress, Robert Zemeckis' remake of The Witches with Anne Hathaway, and others that were Max originals because you couldn't find them anywhere else. This time, however, the streamer is removing its largest slate of titles to date, including Originals, Cartoon Network content, and others.
According to Warner Bros. Discovery, the reason for this is the same as they disclosed when the first titles were quietly removed: Eliminating lesser-watched content saves money on residuals, which is the amount paid to actors and creators for the time a specific series or movie is up on the streaming service: Both platforms are expected to lose content:
We will be making changes to the content offerings available on HBO Max and Discovery+ as we strive to bring our content catalogs together under one platform. That will include the removal of some content from both platforms.

Julia Pott, a former writer for hit show Adventure Time and the creator of HBO Max Original Summer Camp Island, tweeted to criticize the streamer for its latest decision. HBO MAX has simply slammed her colleagues for it, as if we were nothing. Animation is not!
The latest in a string of unpopular decisions surrounding the merger of HBO Max with Discovery+ was, of course, canceling the release of the highly anticipated film Batgirl, which was well under production and had already cost $90 million to produce. New Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav has also revealed a shift in strategy when it comes to superhero titles as well as the end of the strict release deadline that moved Warner Bros. movies to HBO Max within 45 days of the theatrical release.
HBO Max is also taking down other popular shows as well, including Summer Camp Island, The Not-Too-Late Show with Elmo, and Uncle Grandpa. Click here to see the whole list of HBO Max titles that will be removed from the network:
