Legally Blonde 3 is seemingly moving slowly towards production. While fans can only anticipate what will happen next in the franchise and wait for an update, series star Luke Wilson recently revealed that there was a cast meeting last summer to discuss the third installment.
Reese Witherspoon took on the role of Elle Woods, a sorority girl who enrolled in Harvard Law School in pursuit of her ex Warner (Matthew Davis), as well as Selma Blair as her nemesis-turned-best friend Vivian (Sally Field), and a stage show with a spooky soundtrack, Legally Blonde: The Musical.
Wilson's remarks reveal that all, if not most, of the cast members will reprise their roles in the next film. "I think she's probably just waiting for the script to be right and the time to be right," said the actor.
Witherspoon cited Tom Cruises Top Gun: Maverick as an inspiration for Legally Blonde 3, and that she loved the nostalgia element they incorporated in it. And in return, has inspired the team about what we want to accomplish with Elle Woods and make sure that we had all of those same touchstones that people valued back then.
Mindy Kaling and Dan Goor are both involved in the scriptwriting project, along with Witherspoon to star and produce.
Legally Blonde 3 hasn't had a release date yet. In the meantime, check out Wilson's remarks here:
