Upgraded, a romantic comedy film from Gulfstream Pictures, has added two new actors; Camila Mendes, best known for her role in Riverdale, will join the cast alongside Archie Renaux, who stars in Shadow and Bone.
Upgraded might be an interesting comedy for fans of Mendes and Renaux' television work.
Mendes stars in the film as Ana, an auction house trainee and aspiring artist who discovers herself on a last-minute work trip to London where she meets a young, handsome, and wealthy businessman named William, played by Renaux. Additional casting is expected to be revealed within the next few weeks as production on Upgraded continues.
Camila Mendes, Carlson Young, and Archie Renaux, who compose the film, "we are very excited to be collaborating with them as they lift the curtain back on the art world in this fun and engaging romantic comedy," according to Gulfstreams Mike Karz and Bill Bindley, who serve as producers.
Mendes will star in the upcoming Netflix dark comedy Do Revenge, which will be released on the streaming platform on September 19 and will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. This year, the film will be preceded by One Fast Move, which includes KJ Apa and The Other Zoey, which recently completed their principal photography.
Upgraded is still in its early stages of development, so no release date has been announced for it. Check out our interview with Mendes and Jessie T. Usher about Dangerous Lies here.
