Id look at fighting games and say, It's cool, but it's not for me. I had done some casual button mashing, but I'd never explored the deeper mechanics. When I saw the disconnect between what I was able to do and what others were doing, I knew there was no way I'd ever get there.

Without exaggeration, the joy fighting games have given me is like no other game Ive ever spent my hours on. The joy of hitting buttons and seeing cool shit happen, the slow burn tension of outmaneuvering an opponent, the shared enjoyment of playing a boss in Dark Souls. Its social. Its personal. Its community. Its peaceful. Its personal. Its meditative. Its meditative

It's worth it.

Accessing that enjoyment is a lot of work, and seeing it from the outside can be frightening and overwhelming. This video is for those who have been looking at that water and thinking about jumping into the pool. Hopefully you may use it as a gentle, supportive push into the pool.
