Dead Island 2, a zombie action-RPG released in 2014 and originally scheduled for release the following year before mostly disappearing from the public consciousness, is now available on Amazon, with fresh screenshots and a lengthy description of the long-awaited sequel to 2011's Dead Island.
The recently leaked listing for Dead Island 2 also mentions a release date for Dead Island 2, which is expected to be released on February 3, 2023. (It's worth noting that the newly leaked listing for Dead Island 2 is different from previous Dead Island 2 listings for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, which have a placeholder release date of December 31, 2022.)
According to a Dead Island 2 description, players will have six characters to choose from, each with their own personality and dialogue.
Here's a portion of the updated story description from the game:
A deadly virus is sweeping across Los Angeles, transforming its inhabitants into ravenous zombies. The city is in quarantine, and the military has retreated. Bitten, infected, but more than just immune, you learn to manipulate the zombie inside. Only you, and the handful of other swaggering fellows who have to be resistant to the pathogen, can protect your country and humanity from the consequences of the epidemic. Today is your chance to survive, grow, and save the world!
The game's original developer Yager has been transferred to Dambuster Studios, the Deep Silver-owned studio that developed Homefront: The Revolution for Crytek UK.
Deep Silver hasn't announced a new release date for Dead Island 2, but with Gamescom 2022 and its Opening Night Live celebration coming up, the latest leak appears to be a good time to catch up.
