In the first trailer for Netflixs Wednesday, Wednesday Addams sickens a school of piranha on the water polo team, a fun, bloody way to set the tone for director Tim Burton's next mystery comedy based on The Addams Family. The more surprising aspect of Wednesday is that she appears to have discovered a better educational institution and social circle for her dark side: Nevermore Academy.
Wednesday will presumably show the daughter of Morticia and Gomez Addams, who was removed from eight other schools, enjoying herself in a high school setting, a notion that appears to be almost as unorthodox as Wednesday herself. Her classmates can be anything from creepy to kooky, while situations both mysterious and disturbing will keep Wednesday and the Netflix audience entertained.
Here's how Netflix describes the show in its official form:
Wednesday Addams' years as a student at Nevermore Academy include attempting to perfect her newfound psychic ability, defy a terrifying killing spree that has terrorized the town, and unravel the murder mystery that embroiled her parents 25 years ago.
The first trailer for Wednesday gives us a first look at Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia, Luis Guzman as Gomez, and a glimpse at Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley. Jenna Ortega stars as Wednesday. Enid Sinclair, a chipper Nevermore Academy student, will play Christina Ricci in the next episode, Marilyn Thornhill.
Wednesday's streaming on Netflix is expected to begin sometime this fall.
