People are queuing for hours to enter London's pop-up Pokemon Center ...

The pop-up Pokemon Center was always going to be one of the most popular attractions at the Pokemon World Championships this week, yet despite a seemingly organized pre-booking system, it appears that the store has already succumbed to long lines.

In 2018, London hosted a Pokemon Center, resulting in queues around the block. However, the amount of interest gained by the World Championships has us anticipating that this time around a more stringent structure would be in place.

One Twitter user, @Jimray3mta, shared a video of the long line, which extends outside of the ExCeL venue and some way along a nearby road:

Even those who had already pre-booked a slot to enter the Pokemon Center in advance were subjected to the same long wait times, according to Eurogamer's friends. It's unclear whether this is due to a system failure on the store's opening day or simply a large influx of walk-in customers.

Here's a selection of tweets to give an idea of the queue lengths on the opening day of August 17th:

We can only assume that the world championships will continue to grow longer until the 21st of August unless a more thorough booking system is implemented to prevent a wave of guests approaching the entrance all at the same time.

The only place where you can get exclusive Beefeater Pikachu and Roserade plushies from the World Championships as well as the official London coin set is currently the pop-up Pokemon Center.

It's not all bad news, as Twitter has seen examples of those who were lucky enough to get through the queue and live to tell the tale. Almost.

The Pokemon Center has opened today and will be at the World Championships in the ExCeL arena until August 21st.

Are you planning to compete in the World Championships this year? Maybe you missed the competition today? Let us know in the comments!
