The Midnight Club's First Look: Haunting of Hill House The Creator Turns Back the Clock for YA Scary ...

1994? What year? Where is it? Your worst nightmare.

The Midnight Club is the latest series from The Haunting of Hill House and Midnight Mass creator Mike Flanagan. The 10-episode series will premiere on October 7, and is directed by Flanagan and Trevor Macys Intrepid Pictures. Pike is a novelist who co-created the series.

The eight members of the Midnight Club meet each night at midnight to discuss sinister tales and to look for signs of the supernatural from the beyond.

The Midnight Club is a 1994 film from Flanagan and Macy, produced by Zach Gilford and Heather Langenkamp.

Pikes' picks include Witch, Gimme a Kiss, Road to Nowhere, and The Wicked Heart, all of which takes place at the mysterious Brightcliffe Manor. The terminally ill teens at the core of the plot promise to supernaturally return to their friends after reaching their fatal final conclusions.

Flanagan, the filmmaker, told Vanity Fair that he has spent decades attempting to adapt the story for television.

Flanagan described Pikes works as a timetable for adolescents struggling to reconcile with terminal illnesses and with death. It was a useful demonstration of how to use genre to discuss very serious topics.

He added: "These kids really want some sort of assurance that their lives arent over." They believe the bonds they formed are strong enough that one of them might return and tell the others, "Dont be afraid. There's something else on the other side."

Netflix is getting a handful of new storytelling series this fall, including Panos Cosmatos, Catherine Hardwicke, and Jennifer Kent to direct horrifying stories just in time for Halloween.

Netflix has released The Midnight Club on October 7.
