In MTG Dominaria United, a cycle of six 2-color pain lands has returned ...

With the addition of four sets of dual lands to the Magic: The Gathering Fall Standard rotation is bringing a significant change to mana bases.

Dominaria United's next game set will be implemented in rotation, with Zendikar Rising, Kaldheim, and Adventures in the Forgotten Realms being phased out. Standard will begin with Innistrad: Midnight Hunt.

Dominaria United is helping to recover important lands like Pathways by reprinting six two-color pain lands at Rare. Originally printed in Ice Age and Apocalypse, these lands tap for two different colors for one damage or tap for a colorless without having to take damage.

Dominaria United is made up of six cards from the 10-card cycle. It's unclear whether the rest of the cycle will appear in Brothers War or a future set.

Dominaria United's six painful lands are being reprinted here:

  • Adarkar Wastes
  • Caves of Koilos
  • Karplusan Forest
  • Shivan Reef
  • Sulfurous Springs
  • Yavimaya Coast

Three allied color lands and three enemy color lands are a part of the Dominaria United cycle. These lands will fit very nicely into Standard and will immediately be one of the finest two-color options for lands.

Pain lands entering untapped are what make these lands preferable in some strategies to the slow lands from Midnight Hunt or gain lands from Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty. These will be the only multicolor lands that enter untapped in the format.

Pain lands will be a regular, easy-to-remove option that could further empower these decks in Magic Arenas eternal format.

Dominaria United is released digitally on September 1, followed by a worldwide tabletop release on September 9.
