Wizards Presents spoilers for MTG Dominaria United ...

Magic: The Gathering is turning 30 years old into a year-long celebration with the release of Dominaria United.

Dominaria United (DMU) celebrates its 30-year anniversary in 2022, as well as the 2022 Standard rotation. All four MTG sets for the 2022-2023 season are linked to Dominaria. The digital release date for the upcoming Standard-legal set is September 1, and Dominaria United spoilers are scheduled to start on August 18.

Liliana of the Veil

Liliana returns to Dominaria in DMU with a reprint of Liliana of the Veil. The new artwork from the Innistrad set is similar to the others, although the text remains the same. All Magic reprints of Liliana of the Veil are priced between $50 and $200.

Sagas return in DMU

Sagas are back in DMU, with a new sub-mechanic that allows players to begin at the chapter of their choice through Read Ahead.

Kicker mechanic returns to Standard

During the first DMU spoiler stream, Kicker was revealed as a returning mechanic, highlighting Temporal Firestorm. Two other cards were shown during the second Magic spoiler stream, highlighting the flexibility of the mechanic and enemy color Kicker options.

Domain mechanic returns

Domain returns to Standard in DMU after debuting first in the Invasion set. Both Dominaria spoilers shown during the Magic stream were in the color Green.

New DMU Enlist mechanic

Enlist is the only new mechanic in the DMU set. It's an attacking mechanic that can have additional effects when activated.

Pain lands

In DMU, there is a cycle of Pain lands that includes six dual-colored lands that can tap for non-colored mana or color mana at the cost of one life point. Each of the Pain lands emphasizes a geographical location on the plane of Dominaria. The lands also have stained glass versions.

Legendary DMU creatures

From the goblin monarch Squee to the evil Phyrexian Sheoldred the Apocalypse, the DMU set is packed with legends. A total of 20 reimagined legends, like Stangg Echo Warrior, are included as box-toppers.

Precon Commander face cards

With the worldwide release of DMU, two preconstructed Commander decks will be released. Jared is the face commander for the Painbow deck, which demonstrates all five Magic colors. And Dihada is the face commander for the Legends Legacy Precon.

The preview stream contains all other DMU spoilers.

Lightning Strike returns to Standard, highlighting Jaya's abilities. Nishoba Brawler is an interesting low-cost creature with Trample that uses the Domain mechanic for added value. And Defiler of Dreams is straight out of a Pyrexian nightmare.

Today, a sneak peek at the upcoming MTG set included a planeswalker, stain glass booster fun treatment on basic lands, and buy-a-box promos. In addition to the Dominaria United spoilers, WotC also spoils several Legends Retold box-toppers and promotion cards players may receive at tabletop events.

Jaya is one of three known planeswalkers from the Dominaria United set. Ajani and Teferi join her. She was also depicted in the Temporal Firestorm art, with Blake Rasmussen revealing a series of spells that will interest her followers.

Evolved Sleeper and Shivan Devastator may be able to return Sleeper agents with Flying and Haste abilities.
