Call of Duty League rostermania: the 2023 CDL preseason ...

On August 7, the Los Angeles Thieves won their first world championship, while also winning back-to-back tournaments. And as is the case with Call of Duty esports, the next years offseason begins immediately.

The more common term used for the CoD community's offseasonis now in full swing. Several CDL players have already announced that they're free agents for the 2023 season.

This years offseason might be one of the shortest in recent memory, with Modern Warfare 2 expected to be released on Oct. 28 and a well-known leaker claiming that the 2023 CDL season might start as early as November.

Here are the highlights from the 2023 Call of Duty League offseason.

Atlanta FaZe

  • Simp, aBeZy, Cellium, Arcitys
  • No changes announced as of Aug. 15.

OpTic Texas

  • Scump, Dashy, Shotzzy, iLLeY
  • Aug. 14: Substitutes Prolute and General announce that theyre unrestricted free agents.
  • Aug. 17: Dashy revealed that hes a restricted free agent.
  • Aug. 17: iLLeY announced that hes a free agent (unclear if restricted or unrestricted at this time).
  • Aug. 18: OpTic announces that its roster for 2023 will include Scump, Dashy, Shotzzy, and iLLeY.

Los Angeles Thieves

  • Octane, Kenny, Envoy, Drazah
  • Aug. 14: Substitute player Pentagrxm is an unrestricted free agent heading into the 2023 season.

London Royal Ravens

  • Zer0, Afro, Gismo, Nastie
  • No changes announced as of Aug. 15.

Seattle Surge

  • Accuracy, Mack, Sib, Pred
  • No changes announced as of Aug. 15.

Boston Breach

  • Methodz, TJHaLy, Nero, Vivid
  • Aug. 12: Boston revealed that it is not exercising the team option on TJHaLys contract.
  • Aug. 15: Capsidal, who was on Bostons bench at the end of the 2022 season, is now an unrestricted free agent.

Toronto Ultra

  • Bance, CleanX, Cammy, Insight
  • Aug. 14: Bance announced that hes an unrestricted free agent after spending three years with Toronto.
  • Aug. 15: Cammy revealed that hes a restricted free agent.

New York Subliners

  • Crimsix, HyDra, PaulEhx, KiSMET
  • Aug. 14: Crimsix announced that hes an unrestricted free agent.
  • Aug. 14: PaulEhx revealed that hes a restricted free agent.
  • Aug. 15: Coach Revan and analyst JP are both unrestricted free agents.

Florida Mutineers

  • Skyz, Owakening, MajorManiak, 2ReaL
  • Aug. 15: Florida announced that Skyz, Owakening, MajorManiak, 2ReaL, and substitute player Yeez are all unrestricted free agents.

Los Angeles Guerrillas

  • SlasheR, Huke, Spart, Neptune
  • Aug. 9: The organization announced the departure of head coach Bevils.
  • Aug. 15: LAG said it will not pick up the team option of Gunless, who was on the franchises bench at the end of the Vanguard season.
  • Aug. 15: The franchise has picked up the 2023 team options of SlasheR, Huke, Spart, Neptune, and Asim, according to Alex Rubens, senior vice president, esports at Kroenke Sports & Entertainment. In addition, Ricky will transition to team manager and LAG will look to bring on a full coaching staff, according to Rubens.

Minnesota RKKR

  • Attach, Standy, Priestahh, Havok
  • Aug. 14: RKKR and Version1 COO Brett Diamond said Attach, Standy, and Priestahh will be unrestricted free agents when their contracts expire on Aug. 22. The franchise also wont pick up Havoks team option, according to Diamond.
