Zoe Kravitz Discusses Having Channing Tatum Play a Darker Character in Pussy Island ...

Pussy Island, a genre thriller, is a movie directed by Zoe Kravitz, who co-wrote the script with E.T. Feigenbaum. The cast includes Channing Tatum, Naomi Ackie, and Simon Rex, among others. In a recent interview with WSJ Magazine, Kravitz stated that she "knew from afar that she's a feminist."

For Kravitz, the film's original concept was developed five years ago, but it was born out of a lot of frustration and frustration about the lack of dialogue about women's rights in industries that involve a lot of money. Frida believes she has made it when King invites her to an intimate gathering on his private island. As she easily slips into the world of the rich and famous, she discovers something terrifying.

Tatum's portrayal of a dark sinister figure as Slater King is a first of his kind in his distinguished career. While weve seen him playing the boy next door or good boyfriend numerous times, Kravitz was drawn to him for playing King because he "hadn't played a dark character before."

I think it's fascinating to see someone who has mostly played boy next door, good guy, love interest, etc. I felt, even from afar, that he wasn't afraid of exploring that dark side, because he knows he's not that. That's why I was drawn to him and I wanted to meet him.

Kravitz said she's learning a lot about filmmaking and how many fires are constantly being put out." However, she's also trying not to be overwhelmed: "If you zoom out too much and think about the whole thing at the same time, it causes a lot of anxiety, but if you focus on the present moment, it's really enjoyable."
