The following are spoilers for Beast.Beast, a new film by Baltasar Kormakur, that answers the all-important question: who would win in a fight between Idris Elba and a bloodthirsty lion? Or, are lions as terrifying as Stringer Bell? Let's see what happens at the end of Elbas' survival film, and most importantly, who wins in this battle of man and beast?
Elba plays Nate Samuels, a recently widowed doctor who returns his daughters Meredith (Iyana Halley) and Norah (Leah Sava Jeffries) to South Africa, where Nate first met his wife. While visiting a game reserve managed by Martin (Sharlto Copley), a close friend, a group of four discovers that a lion has taken his life.
The family and Martin are left on a preserve, where a group of poachers finds the stranded car, and the lion attacks again, injuring Meredith. While Nate is searching the dead bodies, the lion attacks again, killing Meredith.
Nate returns to the poachers' car and drives off, desperate to find someone or somewhere to patch up Meredith. Unfortunately, the car soon runs out of gas, but it's just close enough to an abandoned schoolhouse that Martin showed the couple on their exploration of the preserve. The lion returns, eager to finish the job on the Samuels' family.
Nate decides to keep the lion away from his children, knowing that another pride might assist him in this struggle. Martin and the lion go at it, with Nate desperately fighting to survive. Nate is clawed and mauled, and just when it appears like there's no hope for Nate, the family of lions intervenes, finally bringing the bloodthirsty lion to his end.
Nate dreams of his wife and is awakened by his daughters in the hospital after the lions take out the other lion. The Samuels family has fought their difficult ordeal, and once Nate is recovered, the family visits a tree that Nates' wife photographed years ago, a loving tribute to the woman that the family still misses.
