The fifth main-entry into the Quake series, Quake Champions, has emerged from its early-access cocoon and made its way onto Xbox Game Pass for PC gamers five years later.

Id Softwares first-person shooter was released as an early-access title in 2017 and sat seemingly idle for what seemed like eternity.

Bethesda announced its release from the early access restrictions on its Steam page on August 18 and at the Bethesdas Quakecon event on August 18, and further good news it will now be available on Xbox Game Pass PC.

Here's a list of today's Xbox Game Pass PC updates:

  • An ES Legend: Battlespire
  • Return to Castle Wolfenstein
  • TES Adventures: Redguard
  • Quake 4
  • Quake Champions

The digital-only Quakecons event will take a step away from its usual home in Dallas, Texas, on Aug. 18 to 20 and has a lot of businesses to watch.

In an announcement on the Quakecons website, the organization outlined their reasons for resurrecting the event this year, stating that an event such as this requires months of planning, and that in this case, we had to make decisions when there was still too much uncertainty to commit to executing an in-person QuakeCon.

The Quake Champions consists of a wide spectrum of characters, including Wolfenstiens BJ Blazkowics and DOOMs deadly main character, Doom Slayer.

The free-to-play game is a staple of the Quake series and is based on fast movement mechanics and a pinpoint aim, which lasts for many years as the id Softwares catalog develops.
