In August 2022, a handful of Spanish-speaking streamers grew the most, illustrating the pace at which the Amazon-owned platform is becoming a global force.
According to SullyGnome data, the top five fastest-growing streamers in the month were Ivan ElSpreen Buhajeruk, Rodrigo Carreraaa Carrera, Osvaldo ElMariana Flores, Juan Guarnizo, and Raul AuronPlay Genes.
ElSpreen dominated the charts by a long shot, with a staggering 350,000 followers throughout the month. Carreraaa came second with 210,000 followers, followed by ElMariana (205,000).
Juan Guarnizo and AuronPlay finished third, with 197,000 and 185,000 followers acquired, respectively. All was fairly close, with ElSpreen as the outlier.
Not all of them come from Spain, either. ElSpreen and Carreraaa are from Argentina, ElMariana is from Mexico, and AuronPlay is from Spain. It's unsurprising since Spanish is the fourth most common language in the world.
And it isn't the only way to measure that.
AuronPlay, Rubius, The Grefg, and Ibai are all among the most-followed streamers on the platform, making up four of the ten spots. Three of them are also among the top four.
Ibai at forefront of Spanish streaming surge
Ibai has been incredibly popular in recent months. In June, he set a new all-time high by drawing in 3.2 million viewers while hosting a boxing match on his stream.
Asmongold believes he deserves to be named the Streamer of the Year at the 2022 Esports Awards, a feat the Spanish Twitch icon has already accomplished in 2020 and 2021, which is sure to be a staple in the streaming history books.
So, it's fair to say Spanish-speaking streamers have taken over the platform in more ways than one. It's beneficial for diversity, growth, and expansion and will likely continue.
