Madden is returning for another year, and so is Madden Ultimate Team (MUT). MUT allows players to upgrade certain cards in the game by paying a form of currency called Training. So, how does one get Training, and how exactly can it be used? In this article, we cover all of the basics of training.
How to get Training
In Madden NFL 23, training is very similar to MUT Coins and Cred, in the sense that it is a kind of currency. The best way to get Training is by quick selling players. Both for getting Coins and training, each player in Madden 23 has a Quick Sell value.
How to use Training
Several cards, such as core series items, can't be upgraded. However, training may be used on them to unlock their Team Chemistry and Ability slots.
Others, such as MUT Captains and promo cards such as Headliners, may be boosted up. First, select Player Options (X/Square) and then look at the upgrade options on the left-hand side of the screen. The amount of Training Points needed should be marked next to the purple UT icon.
Powering up cards is important for a number of reasons. One, it gives cards a nice rating boost. But, more important, upgrading cards with Training points unlocks special Superstar and X-Factor ability slots.
Lastly, we should state that you may get refunds for Training points spent on cards. However, keep in mind that you will not be able to recover the whole cost of upgrading a player.
Return to the screen where you powered up the card and click A/X to receive a partial Training refund.
