Beverly Hills Cop is the latest classic franchise to join the revival bandwagon, with a fourth film titled Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley in development for Netflix.
Because production is underway, pictures from the set have begun to appear online. And set photographs have prompted casting confirmations that haven't been released yet.
We already knew that Eddie Murphy and Paul Reiser would be returning in Beverly Hills Cop 4, but now we know that Judge Reinhold and John Ashton are also back.
Billy Rosewood, who started out as a junior police officer in the earlier films, is played by Reinhold, while Ashton, who was a detective sergeant in the new one. This photo just shows the actors chilling out on set in civvies rather than uniform.
After the death of an old pal, Axel returns to Beverly Hills to investigate possible corruption in the police.
Eddie Murphy was reinstated in the titular role last week, revealing that his arm is in a sling, indicating that Axel will be roughed up during his return.
The fourth film has been a long time in the making, partly due to its transfer from distributor to distributor, but also because to Murphy's desire that the script be good enough.
"I'm doing the film as soon as the script comes together, but I'm not doing it until the script is correct," he said recently. "This is the closest we've come to doing Beverly Hills Cop 4.
"We have directors who are smart and ready to go, and we have great ideas." "It's also possible that the producer who produced the original Beverly Hills cop, Jerry Bruckheimer, is returning."
