A new Indiana Jones film and a new (and final) John Williams movie score will be made into place.
Between Lucasfilm's extensive Star Wars slate and Disney's emphasis on the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's hard to remember that in 2023, Harrison Ford will reprise his role in the production of Indiana Jones, as well as Fleabags Phoebe Waller-Bridge taking on a major lead role (which is thought to be a passing of the torch for future sequels).
The likelihood that the whip-slinging archaeologist will attract moviegoers in the vein of successful throwbacks such as Jurassic World and Top Gun: Maverick is a distant concept. Despite receiving some of the worst reviews in Spielberg's career, the previous Indiana Jones series, 2008s Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, netted $700 million internationally! And when you look back, there's a reason to believe a new sequel will succeed.
Is it possible for Indiana Jones 5 to put the series to rest on a good note with Crystal Skull's untitled flavor? Or, better yet in this IP-harvesting age, start something new with Waller-Bridge? One piece of the puzzle is certain to be gold, no matter what: John Williams score.
The 90-year-old composer, who has worked with Spielberg since the film's release in 1974s The Sugarland Express, will return next summer for a second time, marking his official retirement, and based on a performance at the Hollywood Bowl on September 2, it's no surprise he introduced a new piece: Helenas.
Williams said Mangold granted him permission to stage the film nearly nine months before the release date. On the sound, he said in his introduction that he drew directly from the Helena character.
She is adventurous, and she is a femme fatale. She does many, many things. Her music she has lyrical music like an old movie star, except shes young and beautiful.
Watch a behind-the-scenes video from Mangold's concert above. Indiana Jones 5 will be released on June 30, 2023 in cinemas. Is there any doubt that Williams' musical will be released during the Disney D23 Expo? We'll keep our eyes and ears on until the Lucasfilm panel next weekend.
