After a horrific stunt, a Celebrity SAS star ruptured his ribs and ruptured his spleen ...

Jennifer Ellison has revealed that she sustained a wide range of injuries as a result of her appearance on Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins.

The horrific shoot, which took place in Jordan for the latest series, was described as "inhuman" by the former Brookside star (via Daily Star).

"I was concerned about dying certain times," she said. "It was the worst pain imaginable."

"I hit my ribs and I could feel a pain in my side," said the actor, who is well-known for her role in 2004's The Phantom of the Opera.

"When I returned to the United Kingdom, things were getting worse, so I went to A&E. They told me, You've got broken ribs, blood in your lung, and a bleeding spleen." The infection in my lung was horrible.

The star was given antibiotics in order to avoid surgery after three days in hospital, before undergoing a lengthy recovery at home.

"It was quite a long time," Ellison adds. "I couldn't breathe deeply, so I had to blow into a machine."

Despite her ailment, the actor said she was gratified she took part in the Channel 4 series.

"The reward was life-changing. It's really given me a kick up the backside to sort myself out, so it was worth it for me."

Ellison, who said she now feels like "a new woman," has joined Fatima Whitbread, EastEnders Maisie Smith, and Calum Best in the fourth celebrity special. Rudy Reyes has returned as the show's Chief Instructor after he replaced Ant Middleton last year.

On Channel 4, Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins premiered on Sunday, September 4.
