Maverick Is #1 on Every Conseivable Platform, Top Gun ...

Top Gun: Maverick (Paramount) rose to #1 in cinemas over Memorial Day weekend, and its #1 again thanks to no competition and the addition of $3 tickets for National Cinema Day on September 5th.

Many people who didn't go to theaters chose Maverick for $19.99 to download and view at home. It spent the second of what will likely be many weeks at the top of all VOD charts.

Five of this weekend's box office top 10 titles are also available on VOD. Beast (Universal) and Thor: Love and Thunder (Disney) are also coming this week. Spider-Man: No Way Home (Sony), which is now available as a lower-cost title, didn't pop up.

Universal wins 14 of the 30 spots, including five of the #2 and #3 spots, while Minions: The Rise of Gru (now available for digital download) and Nope, both $19.99, continue to rise, and Easter Sunday and Black Phone (each $19.99) have been placed on Vudu, while the lesser-priced Bad Guys and The Northman ($5.99, the latter from Focus) continue to rise.

Elvis, which was recently purchased by HBO Max on September 2, and DC League of Super-Pets, which are both $19.99, the latter being #4 in theaters.

Me Time with Kevin Hart and Mark Wahlberg maintains its position as the #1 Netflix video game, although on most days it was ranked below the streamers' new romantic comedy Love in the Villa. I Came By, another original production, is at #4. Half of its top 10 is made up of studio films, with This Is 40 being at #3.

The Gray Man, who ranked No. 1 in the Netflix top 10 for six weeks, was left out. Sing 2, Universals' animated masterpiece, which premiered three days later, is still at No8 and has spent more days on the list.

Daily, iTunes and Google Play rate films based on the number of transactions. These listings for September 5 are the current rights owners. All prices for all titles are for rent.
