Edward Gaming has won the 2021 League of Legends World Championship, but whether or not they'll make it to the largest esports event once more is still unclear. How Many Teams Qualify For the Play-In Stage?
The League of Legends World Championship is broken into several stages. The first stage is the Play-In phase, where the first and second place teams of the minor regions, the PCS and VCS, as well as the third and fourth place teams of the LCS, LEC, LPL, and LCK compete for a chance to enter the main phase.
Twelve teams will qualify for the Play-In stage in Mexico City. Only four will be able to advance onto the main stage in New York City.
How Many Teams Qualify For the Group Phase?
The Group Phase will consist of a total of 16 teams, making four groups of four. Twelve teams automatically qualify for this part of the League of Legends Championship, while four will be added from the Play-In stage.
The League of Legends World Championship will begin on September 29, 2022, so get prepared. Oh, and don't forget to pick up tickets when they go on sale on September 8, 2022, as it'll be the first event with fans in a long time.
