Dragon Quest Treasures Rejuvenates The Lid On Monster Recruitment And More ...

Splatoon 3, Bayonetta 3, and Sonic Frontiers will be released in the coming weeks and months, and you may have forgotten that a little game called Dragon Quest Treasures will be released on Switch on December 9th, 2022.

Treasures was initially touted as a Dragon Quest spin-off during Nintendo's own Direct Mini preview earlier this year, but it still offers a boatload of characters, locations, and monsters to discover, and Square-Enix has now exposed some of the game's core mechanics.

We're given a closer look at monster recruitment in Draconia's hinterland, including characters Erik and Mia who can defeat monsters once they've been defeated; some may be willing to join your party if they wish to help you on your quest. Some bronze, silver, gold, and rainbow Monsters are the rarest, and as such may be the most difficult to recruit.

Square-Enix has given a few more details on the types of Monsters you'll be recruiting. First up is a cute pink slime named Oozabella, which can always be seen wearing an adorable yellow bow. In addition, we get a glimpse at the Valhalla Vulture, the Fiery Dragling, and the Stormy Sabrecat.

Then, we get a good look at the 'Fortes,' which are unique Monster abilities that will help Erik and Mia navigate the dangerous land of Draconia. These include the Launch Forte, which allows Erik and Mia to reach high ledges, The Glide Forte to cover great distances and avoid falling damage, The Stealth Forte to dive beneath the ground and avoid the keen eyes of the enemies, and the Scan Forte, which will be crucial for locating key crafting materials.

Square-Enix provided a good amount of information about the two main protagonists of Dragon Quest Treasures, Erik and Mia, so be sure to check them out and get caught up. We've compiled some of the best screenshots from our extensive gallery to stoke your excitement train. In the coming weeks, we'll get a bit more info about the game's December 9th release - maybe a new trailer, please?
