Norman Lear, a TV veteran who has been ordered to series on Amazon Freevee (fka IMDb TV), will begin his second century in showbiz with Clean Slate, a comedy starring Laverne Cox and George Wallace.
Wallace plays Henry, an old-school car wash owner who must do some soul-searching when his ex-son returns to Alabama after 17 years, not as the child he is expecting, but as the determined, proud trans woman Desiree (Cox).
Clean Slate's non-writing executive producer will be handled by Lear's production company Act III Productions, which also produced the pilot and will serve as the showrunner. No episode count or premiere date has been announced for the comedy.
Clean Slate is one of several Freevee projects Lear is working on: a possibility Whos the Boss? sequel series, which was submitted to the streamer in June, as well as a Loteria series based on the Mexican card game.
