Jason Momoa, who plays Aquaman in Game of Thrones, has shaved off almost all of his famous locks in a demonstration against single-use plastics.
The actor took to Instagram to post a video of himself holding up his sliced-off braids as he continued to shave the sides of his head.
Momoa defended "doing it for single-use plastics," describing his reasons for the dramatic hair transformation. "I'm sick of these plastic bottles, and we must put an end to them.
Jason Momoa (@prideofgypsies) has shared a post.
"Plastic forks, all that crap. It just goes into our land, it goes into our ocean." I'm here in Hawaii right now and I'm just seeing some things in our ocean that are so terrible. So, please, help me. Plastic bottles are ridiculous.
"Here's to new beginnings, let's spread the aloha. We need to reduce single use plastics out of our lives and out of our oceans. Plastic bottles, plastic bags, packaging, tools, etc. Let's all aloha our "aina."
Momoa threw his own aluminium bottled water business Mananalu Water on the market in 2019 in an effort to encourage people to explore other materials than single-use plastics.
Fans will have to wait patiently to see whether he shaved off all of his hair as he finished the video before completing the haircut.
This isn't the first time that Momoa has altered his appearance in order to increase awareness of the environmental issue.
Back in 2019, the DCEU star shaved off his trademark beard in an effort to encourage his followers to be more environmentally friendly.
"2012 is the last year I shaved," he said at the time.
