Random: Beta Footage From The Cancelled Kirby N64 Racer Glides Onto The Internet ...

Beta footage can sometimes be a double-edged sword. On the one hand you get to see some of your favorite games' origins - with poorer graphics and mechanics to boot - but on the other hand you sometimes experience a sense of delayed loss when seeing footage from a game that never saw the light of day.

After seeing GameXplain's latest video, we realize that those bangers needed to be promoted - pfft, as if those bangers needed to be promoted. Aside from some pre-release Mario footage, the advert also includes a few clips from the N64's canceled Kirby's Air Ride game.

Kirby's Air Ride was later released on the GameCube (healing the's' for an ultimately less possessive title, Kirby Air Ride), though the gameplay shown in the GameXplain breakdown shows what the game might have looked like had the N64's reduced graphics potential.

The small amount of footage also hints that the N64 game's mechanics might have been quite different from those seen on the released version. Notice how Kirby and King Dedede are standing-up surfing on their warp stars rather than their eventual seated positions? I agree!

Tanks Caps' promotional video also includes footage of a five-racer Wave Race 64 release (which we are currently unconcerned about), 'Mario Kart R' - which would later be released as Mario Kart 64 - and original footage of GoldenEye 007 and Blast Corps.

What do you think of this Kirby footage? Leave mouthful mode and tell us in the comments!
