Nigel Harman, a former EastEnders star, has been endorsed for a part in Casualty ...

Nigel Harman, a former EastEnders star, is said to be appearing in Casualty.

The actor, who played Dennis Rickman on Albert Square between 2003 and 2005, is apparently set to play a new staff member named Max.

The Daily Star reports that Harman has already begun filming, with his films scheduled to air next year. However, nothing has been officially confirmed as yet.

When asked by Digital Spy, the BBC declined to comment on the story.

Harman has appeared in the likes of Downton Abbey, Hotel Babylon, Mount Pleasant, and Cuckoo, since his famous appearance on EastEnders.

George Rainsford, an actor who played Ethan Hardy for eight years in Casualty, has recently sparked speculation that he might leave the show.

After praising director Duncan Foster, he initially irritated fans, tweeting: "Lovely last [episode] of Casualty. Some stunning shots (relatives' room through the window, post crash birds-eye view etc.)".

George said in response to Duncan's announcement that he would be back in November: "Glad they've got you back, I won't be there until next time!"

"Immortalized in toy form!" the actor said of his dressing room in a separate post, adding: "I'm grateful to Ironmint Studio and Casualty for coordinating my head-to-body size!"

Casualty airs on Saturdays on BBC One and streams on BBC iPlayer. EastEnders airs on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 7.30pm on BBC One. The program also streams on BBC iPlayer.
