Queen Sugar Season 7 Preview

Queen Sugar's seventh season had been announced by OWN back in November 2021 as its final season. It's one of the most enjoyable shows in my career, according to creator Ava DuVernay.

Every situation has its pros and cons. Paul Garnes and I have spent seven seasons constructing Queen Sugar with a remarkable cast and crew, alongside our partners at OWN and Warner Bros. Television, according to DuVernay. It is a major accomplishment in our industry and a triumph that has far exceeded every expectation I had.

Queen Sugar is a truly extraordinary series brought to life by Avas' leadership, her amazing creative team, and the incredible cast and crew. "Our audience has seen themselves reflected with nuance and care throughout the Bordelon family's lives, including their triumphs and challenges, and, most importantly, their love for each other through it all," said Tina Perry, president, OWN.

OWN has announced a slate of female directors for the final season, which includes a lot of big names.

The press release reads:

Queen Sugar, an award-winning drama series, will return to OWN this fall for its seventh and final season, with returning all-star directors, including creator and executive producer Ava DuVernay from ARRAY Filmworks and Warner Bros. Television. The final episode will be shot in and around New Orleans.

Queen Sugar's creator and executive producer Ava DuVernay made a promise to exclusively hire women as producers throughout the series' run. Over the course of the seven seasons, the show has employed 42 women, with 39 of them being first-time scripted television directors in the United States. Each director has gone on to direct a wide variety of award-winning television series and films across all major streaming and broadcast networks.

The family attends a christening for Ralph Angel and Darlas baby, Tru, as well as Billie ignores Vinces calls, Prosper asks Sandy for a date, and Micah sees Keke. And when Sam Landry delivers shocking news, it's likely that the Bordelon land will be threatened once more.

On the Oprah Winfrey Network (OWN), Queen Sugars' seventh and final season will air on Tuesday, September 6 at 8 p.m. Eastern and Pacific times.
