Splatoon 3 Review: Round Up ...

Another review roundup is on Nintendo's forthcoming first-party release Splatoon 3. This week the focus is Nintendo's next first-party release.

Before we dive into it, we want to take a moment to thank you all for your own review here on Nintendo Life. We thought the game was "excellent" - giving it 9 out of 10 stars and recognizing it as the "pinnacle of the series"

Right, with that out of the way, here are some thoughts from various other outlets:

The team at My Nintendo News gave the third game a solid 9 out of 10, highlighting how "inkredible" it is, even if it doesn't do much to differentiate it from its predecessors:

"Splatoon 3 upholds the maxim "If it's broken, fix it," while offering a unique experience that will last hundreds of hours of fresh, splatastic fun for everyone.

Nintendo Insider rated the game a 9 out of 10, stating that the series feels just as fresh now as it did back on the Wii U:

"There is still no other game that can restore a similar multiplayer experience as Splatoon." This threequel has been tweaked and refined to a near perfection. However, what's here will be the most important thing to keep the game going.

Vooks.net, an Australian Nintendo website, was even more impressed, giving it a perfect 5/5:

"Splatoon 3, while being more of an evolution rather than a revolution, is the greatest the series has ever been." Between an absolutely superb story mode, some fantastic new weapon additions, and tweaks to the tried and trusted formula you've come to know and love, Splatoon 3 is everything you'd expect it to be and more. Some will call it "just more Splatoon," and that's not the case.

Game Informer was a little less impressed with the third game, but still full of praise - admitting it was the "best entry" and "most promising," scoring an 8.8 out of 10.

"Splatoon 3 does not reinvent the wheel, nor does it need to. Instead, it improves nearly every franchise element in sometimes small but meaningful ways. With an already-solid set of content available at launch and at least two years of free and premium content on the horizon, it is simultaneously the series' finest entry to date and its most promising."

Digital Trends gave it a 4 out of 5 rating and praised it for being a complete "out of the gate" experience:

"Splatoon 3 is a game that is easy to take for granted. It's tempting to dismiss it as another enjoyable multiplayer game in a crowded sea, and one that costs $60 more than some perfectly playable alternatives."

Und last but not least, our VGC friends gave the game a three-out-of-five rating. Here's what they had to say about it:

"It's strange to see Nintendo produce such a safe sequel, but there's no denying the continued persistence of Splatoons splotchy skirmishes." Casual casual gamers might find the experience a bit bare.

Splatoon 3 will be released on the 9th of September. In our pre-order guide, you can find out where to get the game and amiibo.
