Zac Efron has dubbed his Baywatch body 'Stupid,' but says it's totally messed him up ...

Modern action films often come with the condition that actors must be in excellent condition to shoot. Dwayne Johnson and other action figures regularly work out to stay in excellent condition, but others do not enjoy going to such extremes. In fact, Baywatch co-star Zac Efron put himself through the ringer to get himself extremely fit for that film. It turns out that wasnt the best.

Everybody from The Rock to Alexandria Daddario had to be in excellent shape for Baywatch. Zac Efron has previously said that his Baywatch body is stupid because he felt it required so much effort that it should be seen as an impossibility. However, in a new interview with Mens Health, Efron talks more about what the work did to him both physically and emotionally.

I started to experience insomnia for a long time. Something about that experience pushed me out. Eventually, the physician diagnosed it as being caused by taking way too many diuretics for too long, and it messed something up.

With extensive training and a diet change, one enters the game fairly expecting what it will involve physically. However, Zac Efron shows theres another possibility to becoming superfit for film. Put your body through diuretics to look camera ready can have an influence on you in other ways.

From everything, Efron believes his workout was on the extreme end of what actors have put themselves through. The actor says his abs were so great they actually looked fake, and he felt that he needed to get from looking good to having abs that were practically unreal.

I do not know if that Baywatch look is really possible. Its just too little water in the skin. Like, it's fake; it's CGId. And that required Lasix, powerful diuretics, to achieve. I don't need to do that. I rather have an additional, you know, 2 to 3 percent body fat.

While lots of actors go through training sessions to get fit for superhero movies or other action franchises, many dont need to do it all the time as Zac Efron did for Baywatch. In superhero films they often wear outfits that mostly cover their bodies, so if their abs arent perfect, its not that big a deal. Besides, with all the CGI in those films, actors could probably give actors CGI abs.

Everyone wants to be required to endure a job that is so stressful that it actually hurts them. The good news is that Zac Efron was able to recover from the experience that was Baywatch, and now he recognizes his limitations, so he will never fail.
