Strange New Worlds Welcoming A Legendary Actress To Season 2, And Teases An Episode For A Fan Favori ...

The Paramount+ series announced the addition of a legendary actress to Season 2, as well as an episode for a fan favorite character.

Carol Kane Joins Strange New Worlds as Chief Engineer Pelia

Carol Kane will play engineer Pelia in Season 2, and is described as an intelligent and capable member of Starfleet who is able to deal with any situation quickly and without much stress, and is also described as an experienced member of Starfleet. That character description falls in the way of some of Kane's most famous roles as an actress, where she is somewhat more unpredictable and unpredictable. It'll certainly be exciting to see another side of her.

Pelia's arrival means she will serve as the replacement for the former Aenar Chief Engineer Hemmer, who died in a tragic accident in Season 1, so it's possible she'll be just an interim replacement until a more permanent officer can fill the job on the Enterprise. After all, we know Scotty will eventually get the job ahead of Kirks official tenure as Captain, so it's hard to imagine Pelia's tenure on the ship will be a long one.

Lt. Erica Ortegas Is Getting Her Own Episode

Strange New Worlds has a wonderful ensemble cast of characters, and while many of the characters had a chance to shine in Season 1, one fan favorite was left out. Melissa Navias Lt. Erica Ortegas was always around the action, but she didnt get her own starring episode in Season 1. Even if it was already a bad start, Star Trek Day revealed a clip that appeared to be the start of an Ortegas-centric episode.

Ortegas is enthused when she is pushed off for an away mission, but Spock's last minute revelation requires her to return on the Enterprise to manually navigate the ship. Season 2: "Moretegas"

Ortegas is disgruntled she doesnt get to join the expedition, and Spocks Vulcan logic fails to help much. It appears there are disadvantages to striving to be one of the best pilots in Starfleet, especially when your ship has no one else more trusted to navigate during away missions, but I think she will have a significant role in the next Lower Decks crossover.

Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2 will be available on Paramount+ in 2023 (opens in new tab). Be sure to grab a subscription to stay up to date with all new Trek shows and recap the fun of Star Trek Day.
