CD Projekt announced a next-gen (or current-gen) version of The Witcher 3 that would be released at the end of 2022, and, while revealing a fresh update to Cyberpunk 2077, it appears that the Witcher upgrade is still on track for a release at the end of the year.
After all of this time, it can be easy to forget how popular The Witcher 3 was, especially given the serious problems that plagued the highly anticipated Cyberpunk 2077 sequel. It will delight The Witcher lovers everywhere that CD Projekt appears to be back on track and isnt announcing further delays for the PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and upgraded PC versions of the former Game of the Year.

According to a report from VGC today, the confirmation that the new-and-improved The Witcher 3 was still on track came during an earnings call. It also detailed how CD Projekt's president and CEO Adam Kicinski said the new Witcher IP the studio is currently working on will most likely extend to other games.
The Witcher 3's next-gen update was initially announced in 2020, but was delayed for a variety of reasons, most likely due to the COVID-19 epidemic as well as various controversy and backlash surrounding Cyberpunk 2077. With the newer CD Projekt title now in a position to release actual DLC, it appears the studio is in a better position to deliver on its games, which hopefully bodes well for Both the The Witcher 3's next-gen update and the newer Witcher game currently in development
