Players in World of Warcraft have been enraged by the server queue issues they have been experiencing since the recently released Wrath of the Lich King Classic pre-patch, and finally, Blizzard has issued a response.

A statement was circulated during a presentation at the Blizzard forum, addressing the current issues, and describing the different solutions that are available.

The greatest point made by Blizzard developers in the statement was that the Mega-realms in both the United States and the United Kingdom are fully full, and there will not be any attempts to increase the capacity further.

Character creation and incoming transfers have been locked on both the US and the EU's mega-realms until recently, and there is no intention for them to be released anytime soon.

The decision by WoW Classic developer Aggrend is quite harsh.

By doing this, we will eliminate opportunities for new and returning players to join their friends on these vast realms, perhaps for many months. However, the situation on these realms is completely untenable, and even if we can eliminate queues in the short term, this will continue to be a problem when new content is released as long as mega-realms exist.

Blizzard provided free character transfers out of populated servers in a previous attempt to resolve the issue. While these appear to have had a positive impact, the developers are still urging more players to sign up.

Blizzard claims that these steps are the best and only approach to solving the server queue issues, and that if it fails, things will only get worse when the game goes live later this month.

The developers warn that there is no technology solution to this. There is no hardware solution to this. When Wrath of the Lich King Classic launches on September 26, the situation will not improve; it will only worsen.

When the WOTLK Classic begins on Monday, Sept. 26, it remains to be seen whether WoW Classic players will follow this advice, or if they are only looking at further problems.
