Overwatch 2, which will be released on October 4th, will usher in a fresh era for the famous franchise, with new heroes, maps, gameplay modes, gameplay updates, and a new system of content delivery. The franchise is shifting to the seasonal content and battle pass system, which will include new heroes each season.

Season one, which begins on release day, will feature three new heroes: Sojourn (DPS), Junker Queen (tank), and one yet-to-be confirmed hero. Season two, beginning December 6, will introduce another new tank hero, and there will be additional heroes introduced in future seasons as well.

What are the chances that Overwatch 2 will offer new heroes?

How to unlock new heroes in Overwatch 2

After some leaked information about the upcoming battle pass system appeared online before the launch, Overwatch's commercial director and VP at Blizzard Jon Spector confirmed that new Overwatch 2 heroes will be available on the free track of the Battle Pass.

We'll be publishing all information on the Overwatch 2 Battle Pass before the launch, but want to confirm that new Overwatch 2 heroes will be available on the Battle Pass's free track.

Spector stated that if players do not reach the required level in the battle pass to unlock a new hero, there will be free paths to unlock new heroes in future seasons as part of the 80 tiers of rewards.

Due to the absence of them in the leaks, it's unclear if Junker Queen or Sojourn will be available for purchase as a premium battle pass or the free battle pass route.

More information on the Overwatch 2 battle pass process and access to new heroes will be released shortly.
