Riot Games has officially released a Legends of Runeterra roadmap for the remainder of 2022, while revealing other strategies to play in 2023.

Riot isnt abandoning the digital card game, re-posting a late but welcome back half of the 2022 roadmap on Twitter today. Other highlights include additional Darkin drops, a World Championship, and a series of major balance changes.

Many players are concerned that rotation would disrupt competitive and PvP ranked play. Card games like Magic: The Gathering depend on rotation to keep a standard format fresh while creating multiple other formats that utilize older cards in both competitive and casual play.

Each month on the LoR 2022 part two roadmap, new champions, competitive play, Path of Champions updates that include new champions, and balance patches are shown. A seasonal tournament was listed under September but is likely to be scheduled for October.

For the remainder of 2022, here's what's going on in LoR.

September

  • Release of the Awakening expansion and the start of The Darkin Saga
  • Corrupted event, part one
  • Balance patch sometime in the middle of the month
  • Path of Champions updates

  • Three new champions
  • Arclight event
  • New Path of Champions champions

November

2023 and beyond

According to the 2022 roadmap, additional LoR-exclusive champions will be added to the lineup in 2023, as well as new expansion releases and balance patches to coincide with new expansion drops.

Players may begin the Awaking expansion now in LoR, which includes five new champions added to PvP and Path of Champions. It's not too late to get involved in the Corrupted event, which offers a wide variety of rewards, from wildcards to a Prismatic Kayn skin.
