Top Twitch content, August 2022: Esports keep the League at the top of the heap ...

Just Chatting is continuing to hold a lead over Twitch that can only be compared to that held by xQc among content creators. The category is so widespread that it seems unnecessary to include it in the same discussion as games.

The amount of time watched in August 2022 is down a bit compared to the previous month, when it was 269 million hours. More importantly, it is up from the 248.6 million hours watched in August 2021.

According to Streams Charts, these are the most-watched Twitch categories from August.

Most-watched game: League of Legends

League of Legends was once again the most-watched game on Twitch in August, with more than 133 million hours spent. The game was closely followed by Grand Theft Auto V, known for its popular role-play servers.

With 4.6 million views, the games esports competitions led the way, with stations covering the LCK, LCS, and LEC all ranking among the most popular. In August, eight of the top ten most-watched League channels included numerous alternate language broadcasts. Tyler1 was the game's top content creator with 4.6 million views.

Rust gets a boost from Twitch Rivals

Rust may not have topped the top 10 for August, but it was in a close 11th place with 36 million hours watched for the month, which represents a more than 100 percent increase month-over-month.

The massive Twitch Rivals tournament for the game featuring Disguised Toast contributed almost exclusively to the huge amount of viewership. xQc, theGrefg, hJune, and Mendo were among the most popular streamers to participate in the tournament.
