According to claims insider, the PS6 has been discussed more than the PS5 Pro ...

According to an insider, the PlayStation 6 has been mentioned more frequently than the long-rumored PS5 Pro, implying that the PS6 might be Sony's next major hardware release. This comes despite many rumors that Sony might produce a significantly updated PS5 similar to the PS4 Pro.

PS5 Pro may not have 'radical changes,' but it is still on Sony's radar.

Insider Gaming's Tom Henderson stated that they've "heard more about the PS6" than a PS5 Pro, adding that they're not "entirely certain" whether or not this generation will see the release of an upgraded PS5. Henderson added that their understanding of the PS5 Pro rumors is that the hardware will be a "gen 2" of the regular version of the console, and that they do not anticipate any "radical changes."

According to earlier reports, Sony had already sent PS5 Pro developer kits to developers in late 2022. However, it may be that these development kits are related to slightly improved PS5 versions discussed by Henderson, or the PS5 with a detachable disc drive that Henderson also previously teased.

Sony has said nothing in the other direction, so we may still see the PS5 Pro being released in the future — or the company may instead be looking ahead to the next console generation and the PS6.
